About our Church
We are a community of people gathering around Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus rescues people from an empty way of life and invites them to live life to the full. Although we struggle as much as anyone else we’re committed to learn from Jesus how to live this life and we’re excited about becoming more like him. We want to learn to see the world the way he does so that we can live in the world the way he did.
Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, of which there are about 550 congregations throughout Ireland. The congregation was formed in 1914 and the present building was opened in 1923. At the beginning of the 21st century Kirkpatrick draws its membership from all over East Belfast and beyond.
In our Sunday services we aim to worship God in real and meaningful ways. We aim to teach the Bible in a manner that is clear and relevant to the modern world. There are normally two gatherings of the church family every Sunday. On Sunday mornings we meet at 11.00am. People of all ages come to this service. A crèche is available for pre–nursery school children. Older children begin in church and then go out to Sunday Club and Bible Class. On Sunday eveningswe normally meet at 7.00pm but we allow ourselves flexibility to join with other congregations or use our time in different ways. After both morning and evening services we provide the congregation with the opportunity to stay behind to enjoy one another’s company over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
We aim to use the very best in traditional and contemporary music so that the whole family of God will be encouraged to worship in a meaningful way.Musicians & singersparticipate regularly in our worship services. This helps to ensure that we have an increasingly healthy mix of traditional and contemporary praise for the whole church family to participate in and enjoy. A seasonal choirleads worship at the main Christian festivals of Christmas and Easter. There are usually a number of practices in the weeks prior to these occasions as the choir prepares to lead with special music. All of these music ministries are open to those with musical gifts who are willing to share them with the family of God here. Whatever your age or stage, there is a place for you to use your musical talent in worship.
